About

ESR iGuide is the European Society of Radiology’s solution to make imaging referral guidelines readily available and easily usable everywhere in Europe. Developed through an evidence-based methodology, the ESR’s guidelines will set a common standard for Europe without national or other biases. Through embedding these guidelines in the CDS platform ESR iGuide, users will be able to localise the recommendations according to their needs starting from the evidence-based core. A further advantage over text-based narrative guidelines is that through ESR iGuide, the ESR can continuously update recommendations to reflect the latest evidence, rather than publishing a complete overhaul only every few years.

ESR iGuide is designed to be a user-friendly system available at the point of care primarily for use by referring physicians. The system can be used as a stand-alone tool, or integrated with order entry systems and electronic health records, ensuring a simpler, faster and more reliable clinical workflow. The data generated through ESR iGuide will facilitate performance improvement to optimise the utilisation of medical imaging and provide vital educational benefits.

Through the partnership with the American College of Radiology and the National Decision Support Company, the ESR can rely on their experience and a tried and tested product. This also gives the ESR iGuide project a global dimension as the ESR and ACR cooperate on developing CDS-ready guidance for appropriate imaging.

ESR iGuide Web Portal

To ensure the ESR’s guidelines are as widely available as possible, the stand-alone ESR iGuide web portal was launched at ECR 2018. ESR radiologist members can consult the ESR’s guidelines in the portal via the ESR MyUserArea, while all other individuals can sign up for free access until September 30, 2018! Individual subscription options will be available from October 1.
