EuroSafe Imaging Highlights Radiation Protection at ECR 2026

Following an inspiring European Congress of Radiology (ECR) 2026, held in Vienna from March 4–8, 2026, EuroSafe Imaging is proud to look back on a week filled with vibrant discussions, educational activities, and renewed commitment to advancing radiation protection in medical imaging.

Throughout the congress, EuroSafe Imaging contributed to the programme with a range of activities aimed at raising awareness of radiation protection and encouraging best practices in medical imaging, with sessions covering topics such as optimising radiation dose and practice in paediatric imaging, radiation safety in interventional radiology, diagnostic reference levels, radiation protection in cardiac examinations, radiation safety and dose optimisation, and optimising medical imaging with AI.

EuroSafe Imaging was also thrilled to offer several free, open-access sessions at ECR 2026, ensuring that vital knowledge about radiation protection reached an even wider audience. Recordings of these sessions are available to watch on demand for free:

Studio session

EuroSafe Imaging’s programme also featured a studio session, where EuroSafe Imaging Steering Committee members presented some of the campaign’s latest activities and achievements, such as the successful webinar series, new scientific publications and an update on EU projects. This is available to watch on demand, for free, here.

Poster exhibition

EuroSafe Imaging once again featured an electronic poster exhibition, available at the EPOS™ area. The exhibition highlighted results from radiation protection-related projects and research, giving attendees the opportunity to explore innovative approaches to medical radiation protection.

Looking ahead

EuroSafe Imaging is grateful to everyone who contributed to making ECR 2026 a success—from researchers and speakers to participants who joined discussions on improving radiation protection in clinical practice.

As the initiative continues to grow, EuroSafe Imaging remains committed to supporting education, research, and collaboration to ensure that radiation protection remains a cornerstone of safe and effective medical imaging.

We look forward to building on the momentum of ECR 2026 and continuing to work together with the global imaging community to advance patient safety in radiology.
