EuroSafe Imaging 2026–2027 Webinar Series: Rethinking Paediatric CT

We are pleased to announce a new EuroSafe Imaging 2026-2027 webinar series. This years series will explore key challenges in radiation protection and optimisation in paediatric CT and imaging of pregnant patients. Across four webinars, topics will include balancing radiation dose with diagnostic confidence, practical optimisation of paediatric CT protocols, appropriate imaging and risk communication during pregnancy, and identifying variability, overuse and hidden radiation exposure in everyday paediatric CT practice.The webinar series will help radiologists, radiographers and medical physicists improve their skills and knowledge on:

  • Balancing radiation dose, image quality and diagnostic confidence in paediatric imaging
  • Applying ALARA and ALADA principles and adapting CT protocols to the patient, clinical indication and examination requirements
  • Identifying and reducing unnecessary radiation exposure, including from inappropriate protocols, repeat scans and overuse
  • Making appropriate imaging decisions in pregnancy by balancing radiation risks with clinical necessity
  • Communicating radiation risks and benefits effectively with patients and clinicians

Each webinar will include presentations from a radiologist, a radiographer and a medical physicist. These webinars will be CME accredited and are free for ESR members.

  1. Low dose is not enough: the illusion of safe paediatric CT (Balancing radiation dose and diagnostic confidence), Tuesday 17 November 2026 from 18:00 to 19:30 (CET).
  2. Stop scanning children like adults: fixing paediatric CT protocols (Practical optimisation from protocol design to patient adaptation), Tuesday 15 December 2026 from 18:00 to 19:30 (CET).
  3. Imaging the Pregnant Patient: balancing risk, fear, and clinical necessity, Tuesday 19 January 2027 from 18:00 to 19:30 (CET).
  4. Paediatric CT: the radiation we don’t see (Variability, overuse, and hidden exposure in everyday practice), Tuesday 16 February 2027 from 18:00 to 19:30 (CET).
